MRB® III Fertilizer Application System

Optimal Nitrogen Placement in One-Pass Seeding

The Mid Row Bander® fertilizer application system provides optimal placement of nitrogen and sulphur fertilizer.  MRBs® maximize the benefits and reduce the risk of one-pass fertilizer placement, while establishing a high quality seedbed.

Concerned about dry spring seeding conditions?  Find out how you can position your inputs and preserve existing soil moisture to help establish a prosperous crop.

The MRB® III Fertilizer Applicator is the most advanced and durable mid row banding system offered by Bourgault.

MRB® Settings & Adjustments - The key to trouble-free operation is correct depth setting and periodic greasing & adjustment.

Momentary Isolation Switch - To further aid the ability to seed in wet conditions, the Momentary Isolation Switch option will momentarily lift the mid row openers to reduce draft long enough to get out of a sticky situation.

Closer Tine or Retaining Wheel Option - The outside closer tine or retaining wheel options are available for maintaining consistent soil retention over the furrow.  Which option will work best for your operation?

Mid Row Shank III - The MRS III fertilizer application system provides a viable option for producers that want to achieve optimal fertilizer placement with a simplified design.  Producers are encouraged to compare the benefits of each fertilizer application system when considering which will work best for their operation.

MRS III Fertilizer Application System

Mid Row Fertilizer Application with Simple Shank Design

The Mid Row Shank III fertilizer application system provides a viable option for producers that want to achieve optimal fertilizer placement with a simplified design.

Low Maintenance Mid Row Application

The MRS III C-style shank is designed to provide reliable mid row fertilizer application where heavy straw is not typically a limiting factor.

Momentary Isolation Switch

The Momentary Isolation Switch will temporarily lift the mid row shanks to reduce draft long enough to get out of a sticky situation, or drop straw that may be building in front of the shanks.

Are Mid Row Shanks the Right Option for Me?

The Mid Row Shank fertilizer application system is a viable option for operators wanting to apply nitrogen and/or sulfur between every other seed row.  Operators interested in the MRS III option should consider these important factors when determining which option to select.

MRS III Availability

The MRS III fertilizer application option is available on:

  • ParaLink™ Hoe Drills - 10" (254mm) & 12" (305mm) spacing

  • 5810 Air Hoe Drills (all models except the 5810-74) - 12.6" (320mm) spacing only

Mid Row Bander III Fertilizer Application System

The MRB® III fertilizer application system incorporates a coulter to cut into the soil and create a furrow between every other seed row.  MRB IIIs minimize the risk of fertilizer damage to the seed while establishing a high quality seedbed in a wide range of field conditions.

Series 25 MRB® II Fertilizer Application System

Optimize Your One-Pass Seeding System

Golden Rule of One-Pass Seeding - the goal is to apply all of the seed and fertilizer requirements in a single operation without the seeding operation itself incurring risk to the potential crop.

Mid Row Banders minimize the risk of fertilizer damage to your seed by placing the crop’s nitrogen fertilizer requirements between every other seed row eliminating the risk of fertilizer toxicity and salt effect, and eliminate seedbed quality issues such as soil lumping and excessive soil disturbance resulting in premature seedbed dry-down.

The Bourgault Series 25 MRB® II fertilizer application system is designed and built with the same commitment to ingenuity, simplicity, and durability that is found with every other Bourgault product.

The Series 25 MRB II system is available on:

  • 10" (254mm) spaced 8810/8910 cultivators

  • 9.8" (250mm) & 12.6" (320mm) spaced 5710 AHDs

  • 10" (254mm) and 12" (305mm) spaced 3310 PHDs™ (Series 25 MRBh).

  1. Quick Height Adjust - Quickly adjust the operating depth of the MRBs®.

  2. Coulter Opener - The large 20” (508mm) long-wear coulter opens the fertilizer furrow and cuts field residue.

  3. Scraper Position Adjust - The user friendly slide adjust scraper/boot system allows for adjustment as the disc wears.

  4. Service Free Coulter Pivot - The heavy duty coulter arm features a chrome pin with a 4” (102mm) wide pivot for a large bearing area.

  5. Trip Force - The initial trip force is set at 450 lbs (204 kg) of force.

  6. Durable Design - The pivot stop and spring connection to the arm is designed for low wear and long service.

  7. Fertilizer Combo-Boot - The Combo-Boot allows the producer to apply dry urea, liquid UAN, or anhydrous ammonia.

  8. Trouble-Free Depth Adjustment - Durable, grease-less bushings located in the cast height adjustment mount provide a solid low friction fit on the carbo-nitrided shafts.

  9. Agricultural Class Hub - An agriculture-grade cast hub with heavy duty seals ensure long operation with minimal service.

  10. Adjustable Scraper Pressure - Carbide floating scraper protects the combo-boot and maintains a clean furrow.

  11. Outside Closer Tine - Helps seal the furrow and cleans the outside of the coulter.

Optional Closer Wheel
- For 5725 Air Coulter Drills, an optional closer wheel is available in place of the closer tine for more aggressive furrow closure.
Series 20 Mid Row Banders® are available on special order for mid row fertilizer application on Model 8800 & 8 inch spaced 8810 seeding systems.
